Tyler Childers: Rustin’ In The Rain
Release: 2023 RCA/Hickman Holler Record Store Day Green VinylGreen Vinyl
Tyler Childers has recently lit up the neo country music scene like a thunderstorm rolling across west Texas. His popularity continues to rise and his music continues to do the same. While we are not here to review music, we can say he is an honest voice and legit songwriter! That said, even though there are a couple standout songs, we would not classify this his best record to date. But, it is good.
Rustin’ In The Rain was manufactured and released by Hickman Holler and RCA. Regarding the sound quality, it is as good as one would expect from today’s mass production facilities, which is average at best. Tyler’s voice is crisp, clear and stands out, as it should. The instruments are very present and positioned perfectly for the sound Childers is going for. It’s a little noisy at times, but again, typical for the label.
The manufacturing quality leaves a little to be desired. This green Record Store Day release had strings of vinyl peeling from the edges that needed to be cleared prior to playing. There are also black specks throughout, taking away from the very cool green vinyl. Obviously quality control was not a priority.
