MFSL's pressing of Texas Flood brings the depth of Vaughan's talent to life. You'll hear a very dynamic pressing with lifelike tonalities and nuances that rival any vinyl pressing to date. The searing tones from his Fender Stratocaster and every touch of his pick on the strings are captured with delicacy. The soundstage is deep and wide, and the microdynamics explode with extreme clarity. However, as is the case with some of MOFI's UltraDisc releases, this release tends to be bright in some places. Highs can peak to a point that makes the experience a little less than amazing.
Texas Flood pays homage to influences such as Jimmi Hendrix, Albert King, Larry Davis. It flows with a freshness that fuses contemporary Texas blues and electrified rock at the hip. Vaughan's emotion and pace, whether he's lighting it up or burning it down, he is equally mesmerizing.
This record is a limited pressing worth an investment consideration, but the Analogue Productions release may be a better option for the money. 💵
