Billie Eilish: When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
Release: 2019 Darkroom/Interscope Records
Billie Eilish hit the music scene running full speed. At the age of 17 she became one of the hottest artists of the year and has since gone on to become one of the most successful artist over the past five years.
When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was launched through the release of seven singles, four of which went multi-platinum. Besides it immense commercial success, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? received universal critical acclaim.
At the 2020 Grammy Awards, the album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Additionally, “Bad Guy” won Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
As far as the pressing goes, unlike "Happier Than Ever", this vinyl is surprisingly quiet for a mass produced multi-platinum record. The dynamic range is wide, with the highs at a level that provides necessary presence without being pushed out too far. The bass is reasonably strong and Eilish’s voice appears front and center. As such, the record is sonically pleasing to the ear.
For an album that was recorded, for the most part, in her brother’s bedroom in LA, the sound of this record is very good. Kudos to Finneas!
If you’re a Billie Eilish fan this album is most certainly worth the investment. If you’re not, this album may surprise you lyrically, musically and sonically. 💵
